Description 2013-2018

Descriptionscription

For language study, its theoretical  description is a very important role for understandability and clarity of the paper. Till my age 30s , I had never satisfied my way to study and write. Philosophical and philological methods have been felt somewhere ambiguous and unreliable to proceed sensintive research of language.
My great turn occurred at the relearning of mathematics, especially geometrical algebra. In the past 1970s, I was also one of the many influenced students from Bourbaki, that was the brightest star in the universe of minute and rigorous road to the destination. But my poor way was always unevenness and wide deep fog was surrounded in the vast field in front of mine. What at last I  arrived at the gate of confirmed style was the beginning of the 21st century. At that time I wrote several trial papers related with language universals but still never had been satisfied for their ambiguity and intensive styles. My next crux came at my study of new wave of algebraic geometry, complex manifold deformation at 2008. Its result became some papers named Complex Manifold Deformation Theory. This was the very fresh and clear way to study language for me.

Conjecture A
1. Distance of Word
2. Reflection of Word
3. Uniqueness of Word
4. Amplitude of Meaning Minimum
5. Time of Word
6. Orbit of Word
Conjecture B
1.  Map between Words
2.  Understandability of Language

Hanno Revisited Blowing in autumn wind along silver grasses 2012

Hanno Revisited

Blowing in autumn wind along silver grasses

Today I and wife went to Hanno, Saitama, that is located at the next to my hometown, west of Tokyo

The city was very intimate place for some dear fiends of high school days. We were always playing in hometown in the long vacations of summer, winter and spring. using bicycles. And sometime  we had gone to Hanno to play the baseball at the city ground and see the Iruma River that flows the centre part of the city.Ans very rarely learnt the vacation work at the old city library alike a tiny elementary school building.

Along the bicycle road used to go and back, fantastic silver grasses were calmly swaying in the Autumn wind. We ran fast the slope road seeing the railroad at right side. Occasionally  we met the diesel train.

Today I went there with wife by car, using which we went camping or barbecue at the river side far old days together with two children.

Now they are already grown up and working in the central Tokyo. We are enough old and feel tranquil seeing the river and the hills behind.

When the children were very young, we let them buy some confectioneries at the river side tiny shops that are still remaining in the same old style.

The time flew fast and afar went. The river was only sparkling with same beauty.

Wellspring 2008

Wellspring

TANAKA Akio

1
I read two geniuses in my twenties at early 1970s.
WANG Guowei and WITTGENSTEIN Ludwig.
WANG's Guantangjilin and WITTGENSTEIN's TRACTATUS LOGICO-PHILOSOPHICUS.
I have continued thinking and writing by own-recognized WITTGENSTEIN's TLP's style throughout till now.
2
Linguistic themes are almost all depended on WANG's papers.
Yin buci-zhong suojian xian-gong xian-wang kao ( Juan 9 Shilin 1) overwhelmed me by profound considerations and  citations from Chinese vast classic texts.
Wang-Heng Juan 9 Shilin 1) is the origin of  my early concept that consists of infinite cyclic meaning minimum  inherent in characters.
On Time Property Inherent in Characters and Prague Theory are early embodiment of the concept.
3
On meaning of language, CHINO Eiichi taught me its fascination and hardship mainly throughout the works of Linguistic Circle of Prague.
KARCEVSKIJ Sergej showed me the most fascinating approach to the meaning's flexibility in word.
4
From Orient, WANG Yinzhi lead me the meaning of word  especially by analysis of functional words in Chinese classics.
Jingzhuan shici is a compilation of his analysis by which I tried the concept of
positive and negative on the generation of word. The result is shown by early work Quantification of Quantum, from which the concepts of actual language and imaginary language are emerged. Early work of showing the concepts areGuarantee of LanguageMirror Language and Reversion Theory and the like.
5
ZHANG Bingling is the another peak of China.
Wenshi is the work I have tried to get understanding over and over again from my youth. My paper is tried as Energy of Language and Brown Motion as Language. Two papers are targeted to the energy inherent in language.

TODA Yukinobu. Several problems on derived category of coherent sheaf.  Tokyo, 2016

TODA Yukinobu's  Several problems on derived category of coherent sheaf built across mathematics and physics. For my part, further more, physics and language are expected to build over to reading the book.
Chapter 5. Page 116. Conjecture 5.16 shows us the connection between symplectic geometry and algebraic geometry.
I ever wrote several notes on language related with string theory.  Now TODA's book newly light up the relation between physics and language. This relation is really fantastic for me.

Thanks to physics about which I ever dreamt in my future 2015

Thanks to physics about which I ever dreamt in my future

TANAKA Akio

In the days of high school, I deeply dreamt that someday physics would perfectly write over this world's phenomena by the clearest descriptions. So I longed for studying physics in the future. But I selected language's diverse wideness at the university, from where returning the clear descriptive situation represented by physics needed long and winding road for me. Now in my mind probably language and physics or mathematics are happily live together, constructing the world's one main frame. I wonder why I took so much time to reach here. Long time ago, at least Pascal's time, philosophy and mathematics were both sides of shield for solving the world's hard problems. It is very appropriate that the fact is solved from every fields not being partitioned any artificial walls. Philosophy may be solved by mathematics and mathematics may opened by physical phenomenon. Now they all became common sense. Only I reached here delaying rather late. I am now situated in tranquil field. Thanks to so many pioneers, especially in mathematics. Also to physics about which I ever dreamt in my future.

Letter to O. again. When I could not find any object at the campus while I ruminated KIYOOKA's stanza. 2018

Letter to O. again

Dear O.

From TANAKA, again send a letter.
Thanks a lot for your kind letter although you are in every day busy work.

I had thought again sending a letter to you but I could not, for year-end thorough cleaning of my little house.

The fact is I uploaded the letter to you on my Blogger SRFL News, removing your private part.
This blog is still now ranked in the third position.
My blog is written by English so the readers are almost  foreigners. But this blog is written in Japanese  as same as the real letter to you. Your sincere thinking of old books may give the readers with agreement, who love the old books like you.

Blog's URL is the next.

In your letter, you wrote that you would read the books comfortably not selling the old books of your work. I have also felt the same feeling so I bought  Development of the modern poems written by ANDO Tsuguo who was the fine teacher of literature at the university and I once went to his home thinking to hear his intimate voice on poem and literature. He was one of the most typical poet and critic in the present age of Japan.

And now I would want to read KIYOOKA Takayuki's collected poems, that was ever read in my youth.

In autumn 1970 I was the senior of university, when the next spring I would graduate, I met with the thick French binding KIYOOKA's collected poems  at the well drop-in bookshop of Hachioji, Tokyo. At that time I could not yet find my whole life object of learning.

In his book, I read a long poem titled "at the campus of university" in which he wrote that he meets with the whole life object of learning as he meets with his beloved person in his life.

The next spring 1971 I graduated the university, when I could not find any object at the campus while I ruminated KIYOOKA's stanza.

What I really met with my whole life object was already entered in the 21 century at my age 56 in 2003 after much trial and error. It was language universals that was ever taught from CHINO Eiichi who was the real life time teacher of mine and the successor of the Linguistic Circle of Prague, who spent 7 year study at Prague.

Sergej Karcevskij gave me the great  hint of approach to language universals through the famous paper titled "Du Dualisme asymétrique du signe linguistique" 1929.

In 2003 I wrote a paper titled " Quantum Theory for Language" after some trial papers, " On Time Property Inherent in Characters", " Manuscript of Quantum Theory for Language" .
In 2004 I wrote two attached papers, " Distance Theory" and "Reversion Theory".

The proper papers' URL is the next.

After the suggestion of CHINO, I have tried the very hard road of writing style using mathematical base assisted from many contemporary mathematician works, especially at the field of algebraic geometry.

The paper " Quantum Theory for Language" was selected one of the 4 oral presentations of the linguistic field of a international symposium focused on the Silk Road.

On Karcevskij and CHINO I wrote a tiny paper, " Prague in 1920" which was dedicated the two as a token of my cordially gratitude.

Dear O. I am very happy to meet with you so you gave me the true value of books and the precious relationship between books and human being. Your work and suggestion made me recollect the important people and events on my life.

With best regards,

Read Susan Sontag
Now I am enough old for remembering the past

TANAKA Akio

Recently I read Susan Sontag's WHERE THE STRESS FALLS, 2001. The impression is a little different with the other books.
I was never the good reader of her, but her existence was always strong and had glittered.
The time was Sixties that contained the infinite things in it.
Now I am enough old for remembering the time.
She wrote a fine essay on the time, Thirty Years Later ... , 1996
The pages are short but sufficient to describe the time that was infinite and endless.
If her life was able to be shine, while my Sixties was always under the tiny dim light.
At the place where I was, the long view never could be seen. I never thought on the things as I was very coward and was fluttered even at the very tiny event of the time. I was infirm and timidity.
What I could do at that time was read or turned pages of the text books of some foreign languages.
How little and shallow heart I had, pitiable and poor existence. Probably till now.

Letter to O. Thanks a lot for rapid reply / 5 January 2018

Dear O.,

CHINO Eiichi and Golden Prague 2014-2018

CHINO Eiichi and Golden Prague

C also died early, who had taught me Russian and linguistics. He loved
the old city that had the beautiful towers and bridges.

In C's many works there was the essay titled "The Moon of Carpathians". He wrote
that the conference was over, departed at Kiev,
saw the moon and churches
over the Carpathian Mountains,
impetuously went to the west,
passed Slovakia, Moravia, Bohemia, and at last reached "Golden Prague".
Prague,
it was his youth itself.

Now I cannot hear his voice telling the various anecdotes on languages,
of which he freely had commanded. By the short heading, a newspaper
reported his death, naming as  "the genius of linguistics".

Edward Sapir gave me a moment to study language universals together with Sergej Karcevskij 2017

Edward Sapir gave me a moment to study language universals together with Sergej Karcevskij

TANAKA Akio

Edward Sapir's LANGUAGE AN INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF SPEECH 1921 gave me a moment for study in 1980s while I was roaming about the darkness of not- getting any aim to study on language. I ever wrote a short paper being influenced in 2005 and after also wrote a memo on his book in 2014.

Substantiality / 2005
Edward Sapir, Language, 1921 / 2014

A moment came from his famous concept drift. At the near-end Chapter 7 Sapir wrote "the three major drifts", that were the next.

"The drift toward the abolition of most case distinctions"
"the correlative drift toward position as an accompanied"
"the drift toward the invariable word"

This "the three major drifts" are all apparently seen in Chinese, especially in the classical written language. At my age 20s and 30s I continuously had read Qing dynasty's classical linguistic books and papers.  WANG Guowei, ZHANG Binglin, DUAN Yucai, WANGYyinzhi were the most reliable works for me.

Pleasure of Mathematics 2014

Pleasure of Mathematics

TANAKA Akio

Thinking about language by mathematics is one of the most fantastic time for me, ever and probably from now on. Now I remember that  the days of writing Stochastic Meaning Theory and Energy Distance Theory showed me the new visibility to language from ambiguous intuitive situation.

Stochastic Meaning Theory
  1. Period of Meaning
  2. Period of Meaning 2
  3. Place of Meaning
  4. Energy of Language
  5. Language as Brown Motion
Energy Distance Theory
  1. Energy and Distance
  2. Heat and Diffusion
  3. Energy and Functional
  4. Finsler Manifold and Distance
  5. Word and Meaning Minimum
  6. Geometry of Word

Especially Stochastic Meaning Theory was  a fresh entrance to writing on my physical image of language. Energy and Brown motion are both purely the themes of physics. But in those days about 2007, I thought that if language have energy or language have free movement like Brown motion and in the space described by mathematics language generate words or sentences. Stochastic approach is enough strong to my uninhibited desire. In those days what I really wanted to get was the universality definitely described on language.
One day I was admonished from my teacher CHINO Eiichi,"You should not take those course that were not for our ordinary people's study, we were not Wittgenstein. " CHINO taught me almost all the linguistic information from the utterly beginning. I was surely not Wittgenstein, or did not want to become him. But what Wittgenstein pursued in his life time was also able to pursue in my life time, I have thought it over and over. At this situation, Roger Penrose wrote quite exactly as the following.

  • In 2005 Roger Penrose published THE ROAD TO REALITY A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe. At the preface he wrote, "We cannot get any deep understanding of the laws that govern the physical world without entering the world of mathematics."

I ever wrote on CHINO with deep gratitude after his death in 2002.

  • If C live, he also may ask me, "What  are you researching now?" And I also will answer him as same as ever. I have pursued universals, never done facts, without repenting.  Oh C, if you live, will we also talk on language at the table facing each other under the low ceiling of the shop, going up the steep stairs. The name of the shop is California. For the memory of our daily forgetful life, its never miserable though poor all over, I will write down our delight.

For me, mathematics is not a tool to think but pleasure to think. If there be not mathematics right before me, how I describe language's Brownian motion to the others in the complexed and gotten entangled situation by historical deepness and areal wideness.
I wrote at the paper, "Language as Brown Motion" as the following.

Abstractive space     Ω
σ additive family that consists of subset of Ω     F
Measure that is defined over F   P
satisfies Ω ) =1.
Probability space   ( Ω, )
Stochastic process defined over   ( Ω, )   ( Bt ≥ 0 =( Bt ω )) ≥ 0
B t ≥ 0 that satisfies the next, it is called Brownian motion .
(i) 0 = 0   ) = 1
(ii) For ∀ ω ∈ Ω B t ω ) is continuous on .
(iii) For0 = 0 < ∀ 1 <…< t n , ∀ ∈ N , { Bt i Bt i -1 }satisfies the next.
a) { Bt i Bt i -1 } are independent each other.
b) { Bt i Bt i -1 } are followed by mean 0 and variance t i t i- 1 of Gauss distribution.
Random variant of 1-dimensional Brownian motion starting from the origin   B
σ (0, ∞ ) : =inf { >0; B t ∈ (0, ∞ ) }
= { σ (0, ∞ ) = 0 }
∈ F 0 *
σ (0, ∞ ) = 0 )= 0 or 1
↓ 0
σ (0, ∞ ) = 0 )= 1
From symmetry of Brownian motion B t = - B t

From these premise, the next assumption is led for us.

Language that has Brownian motion   L B
B has actual language and imaginary language.

At this process mathematics is not definitely a tool for thinking. By the very mathematics, I could first get the clear notion of actual -imaginary relationship as the style to the others. It is a great pleasure to get difficult  theme after long times. And also pray all the people, thinking  complexed intuitive notions and hoping to describe clearly, step up one or two levels alike me.
